Shovel Cart
Sculpture & Installation
Interpretation
The shovel cart is a representation of toy carts, used to play by small children, but I combine the shovel as an object of labour and a toy cart, to tell about the struggle of children engaged in labour or even those who couldn’t enjoy all the privileges of the supple childhood, as they have to contribute to earn wages. The shovel cart becomes an object of work and leisure both for them. Their world is entangled between these things mostly. Their toys are not toys rather they are the tools and objects which help them earn and keep their childhood apart in a sense.
