Football 1
Sculpture & Installation
Interpretation
I identify with the defence mechanisms of animals like the tortoise and the porcupine that found its way into my work. Pondering over the kind of toys that children play with, the first that came to mind was a football. I cut out hexagons from the found metal plates and attached them to make a football and attached inverted nails to resemble a porcupine. In doing so I realised I was breaking the utility of the object that one would associate with by the look of it, but soon they will come to realise that the ball is too heavy and the nails make it impossible to play with.
